«I’m thrilled to finally get the opportunity to apply to a program much broader than short student exchange programs! Much discussed, often mentioned and long waited a program for me! I’ve met a minimum of 4 Uzbek people who have been granted the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship. They describe education, public order, peace, culture and architecture in Hungary so beautifully that I can already imagine how breathtaking my experience can be there! I’ve discussed the ins and outs of this program with its alumni and already feel an attachment to it. The primary reason why I’m applying to this program is because I dream about studying in Hungary, and need the amazing financial benefits the program offers. I’d love to get to know the authentic Hungarian culture closer, their philosophy of life, thoughts on education, athletics, food, their people, and finally, how that culture different from mine functions in a balanced, harmonized way. They probably know little about Uzbekistan too, and I’m so much willing to be yet another Uzbek student to show them we would love to welcome them in our country!
My academic background in business and finance make an excellent ground to study international relations, since I will be connect the dots in IR in terms of economics, politics and sociology during studies. I’m an excellent candidate culturally as well, since I’ve been to Romania and Malaysia on exchange programs before and have great experience with adaptation, tolerance, openness and interaction. I’ll make a student academically fit and socially active, and having a great deal of interest in the Hungarian education as well as culture will help me utilize this opportunity to the fullest!
I’ve long had a goal of making life around me more comfortable and better things accessible. I wish so much the utilities, facilities and knowledge I’ve seen abroad would reach my people sooner, and I want to be an agent in this. Having studied the banking system and its reality here, I just know we need a more closely knit connection with European countries, host their companies and learn from them. Having outstanding skills in international relations, politics, business, speaking and securing a position at a ministry in Uzbekistan can give me so much power to lead the system, it keeps me up at nights, exciting me about how easily I could propose an exchange program or investment proposal, or get another country to cooperate with us, and just how many thousand lives I could touch that way. If only I grew enough!
The most apparent national issue I can see here is I am not the Uzbek Angela Merkel yet. This is a failed attempt at humor, but I seriously think lacking an enthusiastic and exceptionally powerful political leaders in my country is the main problem I’m concerned about and becoming one is the main aspiration I’ve had in the past 7 years. I intend to use the power of the media and freedom of speech as my main channel of influence during studies and once back home. Greta Thunberg has proven it all – female, young, no higher education yet, no political power at first, and absolutely no privileged (=underrepresented) – gained support, made a difference, got heard, has a voice and in action. Spirit is the number one skill one needs to have and the media is the number one way that spirit can speak to and get heard by zillions.
Uzbekistan has a hundred ways to lead other countries – on heritage preservation, sustainable agriculture, etc. Its most powerful tool is its Islamic, Turkic origin blended in the USSR (= European) background. We could easily be an agent between the states of Islamic/Arabic background and those with European background. We could really do anything with the rich heritage and unique socioeconomic state we’re in. We just need politicians, diplomats, scientists and artists capable to spark a change. I want to be one, and my main goal, main benefit, main challenge, main inspiration, as well as main purpose in life is this.»
